Honestly, it's a pretty average anime. Quite still, deliberately confusing, and with a soundtrack that bothers a lot at times. It's not funny, it's not emotionally involved, it's not rhythmic. The "photography" also leaves something to be desired.
It has a legion of fans because it's kind of "cult", but I guarantee that there's something better to watch if you're looking for something cult (like Boogiepop Phantom, for example). It's not worth the time spent, I'll be honest.
As a possible positive point, I can say that it has a relatively original story, but that it was developed in a very boring way. The main character is simply insufferable. Onishi is one of the few characters that has been developed acceptably.
I follow the opinion of other reviewers: perhaps it would be better if it were compiled into 12 episodes.
