Animation 10/10
The animation is very cool especially for the initial episodes and later is quite good. The death shown is quite brutal but not extremely terror. I love the sea animation in the beginning and how the surroundings details. The fighting is okay and does not require long fight to be awesome.
Characters 8/10
The most noticeable character development would be Prince Canute. From being a coward and religious people, he changed his mindset and become wise in speaking after Ragnar’s death. In just short time, he brings the people and face his own father. He did not act recklessly but have plan in mind. For our main character, Thorfinn. He used to be a bright kid and eventually changed after being blinded by revenge. He became a killer and thirst for fight duel with Askeladd. He let himself being used and just follow the gang. Askeladd is a confusing character, while he is evil for killing and led all the awful thing, he sometimes cares about his members. He could kill Thorfinn but he doesn’t and still let him fight him, could be he used him as tool, however, the last moment Askeladd told Thorfinn to move on and become a true warrior.
Story plot 8/10
Warriors, wars and revenge plot. Hoping to found some prosperous land that free from war and lead better life. It probably exist somewhere called as Vinland. Thorfinn could have better life if he forgot about his revenge but followed Askeladd instead and changed into fierce and different from his bright side. Killing and ignoring humanity, well not even a sympathy. The cruelty of war, sacrification of whole village, rape, robbery, religion insult and so on.
