Ikoma the main character having been researching the Kabane through collecting samples from his work as a maintenance worker for the trains invents a contraption to subdue these creatures. Another character Mumei is introduced to have incredible fighting capabilities with the reasoning behind her power being later explained in the show. Any show with zombies however can get somewhat boring if the concept isn't kept engaging to the audience. This show does not suffer from this at all as new variants and combinations are shown throughout its run time.
The pacing really keeps the viewer engaged as something always seems to be happening as they introduce a plethora of different situations. This is accompanied by the excellent art and animation that helps in telling this story of survival that the creators wanted to convey. There can be times where the actions of some characters seem to make no sense and the situation seems forced but the overall show makes up for this. Definently worth a watch for anyone who is into survival, zombies, steam punk or even a combination of the three.
