The Fullmetal Alchemist series is the most highly regarded anime of all time. It premiered in 2003 and is still going strong. The series follows the story of a young alchemist named Edward Elric, who lost both of his arms and left leg in a failed experiment, and his quest for revenge against his former master, whose death he blames.
The series adapts the first part of Hiromu Arakawa's manga of the same name, which was serialized in Shounen Jump magazine. The series has had numerous spinoffs, including animated television series, theatrical films, and video games. As of September 2016, the manga has sold 78 million copies worldwide. The title has been licensed for English-language release in North America by Viz Media, which has printed 19 volumes as of February 2018. The series has been critically lauded, and the series has been listed among the greatest anime by numerous publications.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's first few episodes are a bit slow, but by the time you're reaching the halfway point, it's firing on all cylinders. Watching the Elric brothers (or Alphonse or Roy Mustang if you'd rather) fight side by side, and clash with anti-war protesters is a treat for the eyes.
