The star of the show is without a doubt the daughter. Absolutely adorable and way too mature for her again. But the couple also have great chemistry with each other.
The dialogue was phenomenal; smart and funny.
This will probably crush any single parent out there with any regrets about their ex. But I think it's exactly because of how stories like these are unlikely to happen in real life that we should value these fantasies. It can give us hope. It can inspire us to do great things. If I had read about this story before my ex and me completely fell apart, I would have tried harder.
