On paper the series sounds rather generic, but the execution was immensely satisfying to me. The synthesis of an interesting plot catalyst, atypical characters, and an original art/character style, made this a satisfying series run with a wonderful sense of resolution. The leads and their friends were all fairly compelling characters with some interesting development, even tertiary characters like parents & siblings get some worthwhile development. The story always felt rich and moving with relatable emotions and was conveyed with good dramatic flourish, and offers happy endings for the main cast that feel tangible & satisfying. The art and colour palette suited the dramatic tone of the series and characters all had visual appeal and musical selections were well matched to the scenes depicted.
