A drop of beautiful animation, a drop of comedy, a drop of cool concept, and oops spilled a whole bottle of sadness and pain.

I hope one day you’ll be reunited with the one you cherish.

Plastic Memories reminded me of Assassination Classroom. They’re cruel anime where you spent a majority of time enjoying the characters, just for all to end. They say the party gotta ends, and the end is always painful.

My god it was painful watching the last episode. The anime did an amazing job building up a beautiful relationship between the main spotter and marksman. They had 12 episodes of shoving as much memories between the characters as possible. Each interaction between them felt precious because I know of the inevitable ending.

With the concept of ripping apart memories, there were a couple of side stories where I saw the potential of this show to be like Violet Evergarden. These side stories could have been emotional and further built the precious relationship between Isla and Tsukasa. I think this way could have been more impactful, but I still liked the direction the show went for.

The side characters had decent background story that mesh well with the struggles that Isla and Tsukasa faced. Only some side characters felt left out, but most of them were relevant.

Overall, a beautiful and heartbreaking anime that re-emphasized the familiar theme of precious memories we make everyday. 8.5-9/10
