Having read other romance manga before this one, I have to wonder if the likes of Rent A Girlfriend and Quintessential Quintuplets have borrowed sequences and plot points directly from Hetakoi or if these story beats are so fully ingrained within the genre that each one will use at least one of them.
What starts as an interesting (if incredibly unlikely) excuse for two people to meet for the first time develops into quite a sweet romance between a couple who would seem unmatched on the surface. Progress happens at a believable pace and the two seem very well matched as the relationship develops until around the half-way point where the drama kicks in and the story kind of doesn't go anywhere for a third of its run time. So much of the post drama chapters are taken up by the central couple just sort of treading water and so much of the latter part of the story is wasted on fluff that could have been avoided if the two just talked to each other. It didn't kill me desire to see the story through, but it did make reading certain chapters feel tiresome.
The artwork is top-notch and it's definitely worth a look if you like your ecchi, but if you're after something that avoids established conventions and does something different I'd probably avoid this one.
