Preliminary (83/? chp)
Reading this feels like falling down a flight of stairs, and you hit your head on every step on your way down.

Story
---
OK, so the story seems great at first. The antagonist genuinely infuriated me within the first chapter. It's a solid premise, and it does a pretty good job at firing you up for the read ahead. I was ready to see some meaty revenge action.

Unfortunately, this steam doesn't last for very long. By the time you get to chapter 20, you notice that things take a steady decline as shock value becomes the main tool to move the story. Not once, not twice, not thrice, not quice, not... actually, come to think of it, it happens every arc. There's also a love subplot in here that completely clashes with the tone and mood of the main plot.

Why?

Art
---
This is the only redeeming part of this manga. There were a couple of panels that actually managed to make me laugh just because of how silly they looked, but other than that there's some really good stuff here. Not much more I can say.

Characters
---
There's a joke somewhere in here about how the manga is 2D despite the characters being very, very 1D. Every character in this manga needs to receive clinical health. Their behaviors include: Doing something to piss off the MC, make the MC blush, make decisions entirely devoid of logic, or actively do nothing at the worst times. I'd like to think the mangaka put a bunch of these in a plastic baggie and pulled one out at random to decide what a character would do next.

Every villain can be boiled down as a perverted crazed maniac who is here to have sex and chew bubblegum, and they're all out of meaningful conflict.

Enjoyment
---
Why. Is there. A r*pe scene. Every. Ten. Chapters.

If you like revenge stories or want emotionally charged fights, I'd read something else. There's other stuff out there that does it way better. If you like watching people being cheese grater-ed or being boiled alive, you probably still shouldn't read this and get some help.

Overall
---

I was worried that after finishing chainsaw man just a day before, I was gonna have a hard time reading anything else cause it was so good. As it turns out, the very next manga I read had the averse effect. After reading this, *anything* will seem great.

So Juujika, thanks I guess...?
