Sadness, pain, absolutely destroyed. Truly a sword through the heart story. The first chapter itself will make you either want to propose or be proposed to in the same way.

Story: 10/10
WARNING, YOU WILL BE SAD NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU READ IT!!! Absolutely well written, the story progressed at excellent pacing, with great moments of romance, comedy, and caring with moments of seriousness. The story has a unique insight into life in Japan prior to and during World War II and the cost of war in general. You truly do see the characters grow old and see their love for one another and the people they're surrounded by. In a few chapters, the story captured a lifetime of a couple and ends it beautifully. Was so sad I just re-read the last chapters again and I'm sad, that's how well-written the story is.

Art: 8/10
Once again not an artist so I don't give my views but I liked the art, detailed well.

Character: 10/10
Essentially all the characters are well written. Showing the different classes of life in early 20th century Japan, you kinda get a slight hint of what life was like back then. The beginning introduces the past and the hardships the characters face, and as it progresses shows their love for one another burgeon and makes you jealous.

Enjoyment: 10/10
The 10/10 is for how much I love it, I hate it for tearing me up like this and leaving me empty no matter how many times I read it. Very seldom do mangas do this and I'd say this is the only manga or anything in general that makes me feel this way.

Overall: 9/10
Love it. Can't even put it into words how much I love it, all I can say is it's too good that I'd spend any amount to get a literal paperback of this manga. I give it a 9/10 solely because of the damage the book does to my emotions.
