This manga is a heartwarming, touching piece.
Although the title, Will you marry me again if you are reborn?, sounds like something straight out of a fantasy, this manga turned out to be a rather sad love story between a young boy and girl, who are reminiscing on the past as an elderly couple. It's a very unique premise that is being executed extremely well.
Each chapter builds the relationship between them further, giving input from both the boy and the girl's side of the story, and what the defining moments in their relationship were for them. Each beginning of a chapter has some sort of
significance that is explored further through the flashbacks, which make up the meat of the story.
Every chapter is another rollercoaster of feelings in the amusement park of emotional stories. It's not perfect, but that's also what makes it so good.
Under other circumstances I would have criticized the art for being a little too rough, but it's nice to look at and fits in well with the overall mood of the story.
The main duo is a pleasure to watch. They have great chemistry and each moment shared between them feels genuine. The drama isn't over-the-top and is dealt with carefully and in a cute way. This manga deals with both the joyful vitality of the past and the painful optimism of the future.
The side characters are also extremely fun to watch. Their actions and thoughts can be more subtle but they are a necessary addition to the story and give it a comedic spin. They are also extremely relatable, more so than the main couple, especially if you're sad and single like me.
After reading the first few chapters of this manga, I can confidently say that I'm going to love the rest of it. Truly a beautiful work of art, I look forward to reading the rest of it.
