The answer is quite simple; Barakamon is a great slice of life, that exceeds all expectations that I have when I sit down to watch it. Barakamon isn't the type of anime where you get mind boggling stories, or fast paced action but one that sticks true to its genre. It's a slice of life comedy rooted in reality, one that delivers exceptionally well on what it offers.
Story - 8/10
Not much to say as it is a slice of life, but nonetheless the story is a good one to follow along, as we get to see the character development of each character individually.
Art - 8/10
For a 2010s anime, the art was awesome! None of the scenes stuck out to me as, "oh that scene was a bit...low in budget".
Sound - 9/10
Barakamon's soundtracks,op and ed are a perfect match for the type of show it is. Not much to complain about here either.
Character - 10/10
Wow....one thing absolutely amazing about this show is in its characters and their developments. None of these characters are flawless; they all are flawed in a way that is realistic. You see kids acting like actual kids instead of being loli bait fanservice, and are all endearing in the way you'd act with your family. They may be annoying and frustrating at times, but those moments are what you look back fondly too.
Enjoyment 10/10
While it may not have those emotional moments like in rom coms, it more than makes up for it with its perfectly executed comedy and the events that happen in the lives of Handa and the islanders. Overall, Barakamon is just a masterpiece that I can ALWAYS come back for a rewatch if I want to have a good time. It has never failed to leave a big smile on my face after finishing/watching it, so much so that my cheeks hurt.
