I had long eschewed this manga for irrational reasons. The MC seemed very boring to me and the premise was a typical one of imperialistic domination, which is nothing new. These are not necessarily reasons to turn down a manga, but I could not bring myself to be bothered to actually read it for the longest time.
I finally got around to chugging through the chapters within the last few days. I hate to admit that I was satisfied with how it went down. It isn't a super-good or magnificent work of originality. The ideas of special weapons and a Nazi-like government of evil experiments and powerfully evil generals are nothing new. However, the fact that the main characters were vulnerable to death really did a number on my reluctance.
The art is alright. The action is good, though I have been spoiled by series better like Chainsaw Man. Nonetheless, it gets the feeling of powerful anime action across well-enough.
Character development was good. The motivations are a bit rushed through things like memories towards the end of a character's role, but I suppose with the whole edgy bloody premise this was normal and to be expected.
Overall, I have to say this series was good in the end. After having avoided it for so long, perhaps it is for the best that I admit it was on the better end of mangas I have read as well.
