As cliché as I may sound ,I apologize already but this is is my first time writing a review & beware of the *minor potential spoilers* ahead ,so excuse me for my flaws but I was really hyped up after watching Fumetsu no anata e & really wanted to drain my thoughts out about this incredible show .

The portrayal of this series is clearly remarkable with the main character Fushi ( that is immortal in Japanese) whose an orb ,a supernatural entity with no self-awareness ,it enters the world and the entire series depicts his journey ,with a God-like entity looking over him the whole time ,showing up time to time & serving as the narrator to the show meanwhile slightly guiding Fushi every now and then .

As the story progresses ,one undergoes a broad spectrum of feels ,one could ever imagine ,in the brief course of the show. The mc’s predicament is shown in a way that’d make you readily sympathize with him.

Fushi gradually gains insight of himself and its surroundings ,experience all sorts of stimulations as it spends its time on earth .Taking the role of a living human ,he encounters feelings like agony ,wonderment ,sadness ,attachment ,brotherly affection ,desperation ,pain of losing loved ones ,anger that he had never felt before. He goes through a tough ordeal to become self aware ,mindful of key concepts like life ,death ,love ,good ,evil & what-not ,& skilfully use his supernatural abilities where needed .

I love how the creators developed his character from lifeless scratch ,to such a high spirited , determined adventurer guy,the development of which progresses smoothly in an amusing way though he’s lovable from the beginning.

Then there’s his natural enemy ,”the Nokkers “ who threatens Fushi’s existence & he has to face them head on ,during the course of which he loses his comrades and ultimately he overtakes their physical forms along with their traits ,that being one of his supernatural powers which is also a beautiful depiction of the fact that ,his companions don’t really die but become a part of his eternal journey .All along his way in course of which he becomes more and more humane ,full of all sorts of emotions and stays in a form of 14 y/o human boy ,his very first human encounter.

One thing that is worth appreciating is that the side characters in the series are quite something with diverse traits (there’s this cute funny toddler then theres a 90 y/o wholesome grandma accompanying the mc) & intricate depth in their characters with some of them having a lot on their plate ,struggling with their own situations besides the main storyline ,which adds more dimension to the overall setting of the show.

The artstyle too, is eye catching & distinctive ,in a good way. You can’t help but to fall in love with each character ,specially our Fushi who can make the best facial expressions at times and serves as an eye candy though that’s not his real form .
However it irritates me how much the opening song spoils the whole show if you notice carefully ,that is.

The series is set in medieval times & the sense of different places & tribes is worth-mentioning. The critical upbringing ,of the matter of close-mindedly ancestor-worshipping traditionalist ,tribal people ,their vicious ,unjust ways & the following consequent adversities one has to face on individual level ,is undoubtedly commendable.

In a nutshell ,I think this series is quite close to masterpiece ,one of my favourite anime ,so at least give the first episode a try and trust me you won’t be disappointed each episode makes you so hung onto the story ,so there’s no way this is going to be boring though be prepared for the multiple tragedies
But it’d be such a waste to not watch this series just because of the tragic happenings ,as the series offers you much more than just that.
Thank you for reading till the end I hope it helps ☺️
