After watching Boku no Pico, my expectations for the second OVA, Pico to Chico, were extremely low. To my surprise though, Pico to Chico was actually better than its predecessor. When it comes the various media, the original is usually always better than the sequels; but Pico to Chico proved me wrong. However, it is still plagued by issues that caused the first installment of the Boku no Pico series to suffer.

To get one thing out of the way, I am not a "hentai enthusiast" per say, so I will be making little to no comment on that end. This review is more so focused on the story and characters.

Also, SPOILER WARNING

It is not clear where this story takes place in the Boku no Pico timeline. Pico is a returning character, but it seems as though he has not aged since his first encounter with Tamotsu. There is a possibility that this OVA takes place before Boku no Pico, but I personally doubt it. Picotsu (a combination of the names Tamotsu and Pico) shippers will be disappointed to find out that Tamotsu is no where to be seen in this OVA. Instead, his role as Pico's partner is replaced by a boy named Chico. As someone who did not like Tamotsu, I am perfectly fine with this change; in fact, I believe Chico is a much better partner for Pico. There is also another new character; Chico's big sister, Manko. She plays a bigger role to this story than Pico's grandfather in Boku no Pico.

My biggest problem with Boku no Pico was the extreme lack of chemistry between Pico and Tamotsu. The writers must of realized this, and decided to pair Pico with a character that shares similar traits to him. Ultimately, this pays off tenfold. Besides the sexual intercourse that takes place numerous times in this OVA, I felt that the two characters truly had feelings for each other; this was missing in Boku no Pico. Also unlike the first OVA, there is no conflict that transpires. I am fine with this because a conflict was not necessary in the story. Despite how Pico to Chico is an improvement compared to Boku no Pico, I still gave this OVA a poor rating of 2/10.

Pico to Chico's plot, while better than the first OVA, is still a little ridiculous. Chico is a rather passive boy when this story begins, but goes through a sexual awakening after peeping on his big sister masterbating and with some guidance from Pico. While the cause for the awakening was disturbing, Chico mentions that he commonly peeps on his sister. I understand that he was oblivious to what his sister was doing, but this still bothered me while I was watching. However, even the big sister is not safe from criticism. Towards the end of the OVA, Manko comes back home from shopping and discovers Pico and Chico having sex. Instead of letting them have privacy, she hides behind a corner and masterbates while watching them. Without even mentioning the fact that she willingly watched her brother get railed, it was appalling to see a character like Manko do such a heinous act. When she was introduced, she came off as a timid, responsible, and mature person. It disappointed me greatly that her character was reduced to such a horrible role.

To conclude, as I said in my Boku no Pico review, do not even bother watching this; even though it is slightly better than the first installment.
