One of the worst anime I've ever seen, which is all the more galling considering it came highly recommended. The first half of the series is alright - not great, but alright. It's too episodic for my taste, with each episode being about a different character, all of them only loosely connected at best. Still, there's some mystery and tension around what exactly the deal is with Shonen Bat, the unidentified figure who's been (non-lethally) attacking people seemingly at random.

Then the second half of the series just throws all of that in the bin and becomes an incoherent mess, giving up entirely on any sort of plot or resolution to anything that was established early on. It's like if you started watching, I don't know, the Shawshank Redemption and then at the halfway point it suddenly flips and becomes Eraserhead. Just really no connection to anything that had happened, very little to do with any of the characters - the whole of the second half of the series felt like filler. Then right at the end, a sort of token shrug of "oh, this is what was happening I guess", but it's so weird and disconnected from the starting point of the show that they might as well not have bothered at all.

Absolute train wreck of a series. Yuck. I have no idea why anyone likes it.
