Shiki or what do we call it as 'corpse demon' is a typical story about vampire and werewolf.When I see the meaning, i think it's about a zombie wander in the middle of night, hunting people. Hell no. But, what is so different about Shiki? You must be wondering it must be the same like any typical vampire+werewolf anime/manga where vampire must live in a big, classic, old like castle and will always fight with werewolf and happen in a classic old time like Victoria era?Like in Twilight,Trinity Blood and ect? Yup!definitely in shiki you can see all of that, and i bet all vampire and werewolf lovers will love this anime the way i do because it contains all of them.But, what is so different in shiki is that it is mixed with a new element, it's about Japanese vampire or we call it okiagari, "the risen",Jinrou or we can call it werewolf. But, what is so different about werewolf in Shiki, is that they are subspecies of Shiki that can wander through days and night, a rare species and what is important is that, they do not fight with the okiagari or we can call the vampires that only can wander during night and sleep during the days. In shiki there are only 4 jinrou ; Yuuki Natsuno(main character),Tatsumi, and the 2 others that name is unknown.To be in fact, when I watch shiki, i came to be so sympathy with the okiagari and thought that the villagers is the villain in this anime instead of the okiagari.
I have known shiki from manga so i decided to watch it on anime version. When i watching it for the first time, i though it was kinda different from manga version. Or no? Well that's my opinion. This anime keep me thinking and thinking, about why it keeps telling what date is it in Japan, lucky day or what ever that i think no one will care.
The plot is so interesting that it always stuck in my mind, and keep me wonder what will happen next in the next episode. The story take place in a modern era, in a small village called Sotoba. The story began when a mysterious death happened and a series of death came after that the dean of the only clinic in Sotoba village, Okazaki Toshio thought that it was just an epidemic. But, when the deaths keep piling up, he knows that something is really wrong with the village. He also have a friend, Seishin Muroi, the local priest in Sotoba village. In fact, the Muroi and Okazaki family is the main family in Sotoba village,or can I say the head of the village.They are best friend, but yet have different opinion about shiki. Toshio Okazaki desires to kill all the shiki, yet ironically his best friend give up and went to the shiki family! Together with the main character of this anime Yuuki Natsuno,Okazaki Toshio fight the shiki with their smart plan...
Aih, this is boring. To keep it short, i've somewhat disappointed with this anime, because i really want Sunako Kirishiki to die! Despite of her cute look, she is the oldest shiki of them all(about 100 years old?) and sucked out blood of thousand peoples already! and what i don't understand is that, what's up with Mr.Kirishiki? Why he killed his servant and declare that he wants to be a shiki?
All in all i gave this anime 8/10. Nearly give this anime 7, but i changed my mind, because this anime really give me the excitement mixed with thrilled.
Story : 8/10 because it's a revolution of normal vampire story and the idea is not that original.
Art : 7/10 .The blood is all good, i just don't like this kind of drawing =p
Sound : 8/10 . It's the most important in anime.In shiki, the sound is totally creeps me out especially when the time Natsuno is near the window, and the cha cha sound? You know what i mean?
Character : 8/10. Yup!all the characters in Shiki deserved it.Yuuki Natsuno and Okazaki Toshio deserved it better =)
Enjoyment : 8/10. This anime is placed under the tag of horror, mystery anime.With the blood splashing all over at once creeps me out, but at the same time excites me.It's the best horror anime ever!xD
Overall : 8/10 because i'm not satisfied with it. It is an incomplete anime. I wonder what happen to Sotoba Villagers and does that mean that not all shiki died?It really pissed me off. or maybe i should read the manga to know what exactly happen?or is it just the same? o_O
