Slime dairies will show you the missing piece of a jigsaw, and how the story cools itself down after event in the main series. Despite its parent story, it got a softer art style and it offers a more peaceful moment. The story runs very slow and shows how the characters we see in the main series get so comfortable, and Rimuru gets a break from an intense story.
If you are a fan of Slice of Life genres. I would highly recommend this series although you never watch parent story before.
