Similar to Pandora hearts in the sense it falls apart in the last quarter.

The series kicks off with Our Crimson Prince of the Demon realm sent to earth to find someone and have to take there soul but he must avoid the angels as they are stronger than the demons will try to arrest them if they see them on Earth. During his search he meets a girl who is totally unrelated to everything. Absolutely unrelated. Due to various circumstances he now lives under the same roof as her and her grandma. Now he continues his journey while remaining undercover. But what is he supposed to do when his power the Crimson Eye reacting whenever she's near him. Is it her soul he needs to take or someone else?

The series kicks off strong. New and bombastic characters get introduced pretty quickly in the series. Most of them are pretty likable. They aren't just there for pure comedic value. They have a charm and provide some sort of entertaining moment in the series. Be it drama, Action or Comedy. However without a doubt the person who stoles the show is our main character. His growth from Being dismissive of everything to becoming the person he becomes is astounding. This is a major part in the series and its done very naturally. It feels a bit fast in the beginning but besides that I think how the author handled his character was excellent.

Part of the reason being the main character is cool. He's not the average day of the mill. Sure he hates attention but like he's the best for a reason. Girls flock him, Guys want to be him (without the demon part) and its just refreshing to see a characters like that. He is charming but he's not an asshole. He's a good person/demon thingy. I just liked that. He was basically a shoujo main character with a shounen personality and it just works rather than clashing with each other.

The side characters are mostly well written as well. As far as the main side characters go. Not everyone can get screen time sadly. However this is also a double edged. This series has a lot of flashbacks. Which mean that the main story needs to take a break so we can care more about the side characters. Which works.... mostly. But this is part of my problem. I hate flashbacks. I understand with these lengthy series, you can't give everyone an introduction right at the start. But this shit was pretty damn excessive. I'm pretty sure that more of this manga is flashbacks than not. Like i mentioned this slammed the breaks on the main story, which i was far more interested in and when it was all being revealed and what not it was without a doubt enjoyable.

I did still enjoy the side characters backstory. Almost everyone got one lol. But each felt a little longer than necessary. Like i said there are many flashbacks in this series so this shit adds up.

I think the author also did a wasted opportunity here. The manga shows there is a demon realm, Angel realm, Hell realm (not related to demon realm), beastman realm and all that other shit. But we spent most of our time on earth. Like i wanna see more of the crazy stuff that these realms hold and it kinda sucks. We do go and see that shit from time to time but i do wish there was more of realms rather than earth.

The series also drones on for a bit too long and rushed the ending. How it resolved everything was kinda pathetic and weak. Like what was that? There was still some answers left. With the final flashback I started not caring. If this series ended like 3 volumes earlier it would've far better. With a more fleshed out ending.

There is also a love megagon (google it) going on. Everyone is in love with each other. Platonically or otherwise. So this is a constant thing but besides the main characters there is no payoff. I guess in a sense it doesn't really matter but then don't make me ship them damn it! For real, some of them still involve love triangles, I wanna know what that shit is about.

In regards to pay offs. Like i mentioned some questions don't get answered. One of the people came here to kill the Male lead. He didn't t do it otherwise the manga would be over much faster but he does it cuz you know royalty and shit but like it just gets rolled under the carpet. There is so much screentime given to his mission and they just forget about it.

One of the characters lazily shows up to drive the plot forward. Majority of the characters had distinct personalities and if they didn't they mostly fell into the background was basically purely there to drive the plot forward because the author couldn't think of a more natural way. For a second there I thought the villain changed.

They are quite a few twists in the series. But its pulls the *not the full story* bullshit a little too many time

When i was reading this, action aside, I felt a connection to pandora hearts. But maybe the most similar part about it is how it falls apart near the end.

TLDR: I did still enjoy this series and would without a doubt recommend it. It's romantic and dramatic, giving you the intended effect. But too many flashbacks and some character issues throws it off. It also drags on for too long. But still something everyone should check out at least once. 7/10
