Having already read Takamichi's Yuru Yuru, I could not help myself in wanting that same pleasure, so I took it upon myself to go and read another title of his which looked similar to Yuru Yuru, being "Ritou no Umi" or "Umi of the Island".

Anyways, the story is based on a girl named Umi with her friends and relatives who lives in the islands of Namaco, Kurage, and Nakama. It is one of those s.o.l that has no real plot and is just the daily activities the inhabitants do. Generally alright if you are looking for something simple to spend time on. As for characters, they are fine. Maybe one would call them flat, though it would be unwise to expect highly intricate sophisticated people. They are just normal people like you, me and those around us with genuine lives. I don't know the full extent of their lives but there is only so much to do in 5 chapters. In any case, it was nice seeing these characters do simple things.

The art is really cool. I tend to try to level manga art evaluation, with some manga using perks like colour to make it more absorbing. This isn't to say that the art is bad, it is fine for the most part, the style is like ever s.o.l manga in all honesty. The colour is there to add the feeling you get when you are on an island as such presented. Good stuff.

I enjoyed this. Literally have no clue how anyone else could not enjoy this unless you are not interested in s.o.l or find it boring. There really is zero offensive content (taking Twitter out of the mix) and this really serves, at least for me, as a fine way to pass time. Would recommend it for sure, especially with it being a < 30 min read. Not a ton of dialogue per pages and if nothing else, it is nice to stare at.
