After watching Oregairu (a teen romantic comedy anime with a bittersweet ending) and then after that monster anime (a crime thriller and of course one of the best classic animes ever), you could guess that in my roller coaster of anime watching schedule it was time to watch a romantic anime. Watching monster anime was so long and so pleasant. Because I was absorbed and engrossed in its dark atmosphere so I wanted something teenagy and fun to watch. But I was not ready for this...
It's been about two weeks since I finished watching Shinsekai yori and finally have absorbed most of its meaning and concepts that I might be able to write a review of this.
As for before watching anime I searched through my not watched anime folder and I found this really old downloaded one. I have downloaded it about a year ago and haven't touched it since. Then I searched in Google to find out more about this anime and is it worth watching or not. As expected it seemed to be a good show and I started watching it at the beginning of week on Saturday. As I watched the first episode it was a little bit creepy and different from other school type animes (cause the title was 5 school kids). I had to rewatch it later tomorrow and I one thing that I have mention is its ending song... It was like one you hear Tokyo ghoul op for the first time and you couldn't resist not to listen to it again and again. I constantly listened to this and danced with it in the house... Totally a hentai boy. But when I got more and more into this anime it got so much creepy and eerie...
There are parts in this anime that animation is lacking heavily on some particular scenes but the music is so strong and well composed to fully compensate those lacks.
It wasn't until episode 18 that this anime changed its tune entirely. You know up until these episodes this series was easy to digest and with its lots of post apocalyptic contents and interesting info given ( I should mention that this anime is based on a book so that's why it's well depicted throughout the show till the end), but in these episodes it unravels an excruciatingly painful truth about human nature and in its ending this painful truth reaches its peak.
I am a big fan of romance drama anime and my first contact with anime that caused me to be obsessed with anime was your name movie. I mentioned this because when I saw pure love of the characters in this show being crushed by humans greed it destroyed me completely, I literally felt a great void in my chest!, I was so disappointed with this sad truth about humanity. I was aware that Yeah humans can be cruel and miserable but I have ignored it many times. This anime showed this insanity in a marvelous way.
It's so hard to find such a good anime like this one and with this heavy impact on me. This effect was so strong that I won't forget this anime ever. It's been one of my favorites of all time and I appreciate it for giving us this good time watching it.
