Imagine your at a restaurant, eating the most exquisite, the most beautiful filet mignon.
Then halfway through the waiter takes the plate away.
That's exactly how I feel about Wonder Egg Priority.

ART - 8.5

This show is so beautiful. It's so exceptionally bright and vibrant. It's deceiving; it's perfect for a show that has depression and suicide as its main premise. Everything I love about an art style. At times the art style looks so real I would say that it is a real image taken by a real camera. The style is mesmerising and yet it's... out there. Half the time, I can't tell whether the story is located in the everyday world, or in a dream. It is perfect in every way, except one. I honestly wouldn't mind rating "Art" a 10 except for the fact that I believe that it could be better in one way. Call me too critical but I stand by my opinion. Half the show is set in a dream world, that's Wonder Egg Priority should have emphasised "dreaming" more. I can't speak for everyone, but I can say for a fact my dreams are so abstract. That is what this show's art lacked. Wonder Egg Priority started strong with the abstract dream world but then they just... stopped. Every dream I have had is different in a certain way, one more abstract than the other. But in Wonder Egg Priority, apart from the different bosses and "Wonder Egg", almost every part was the same. I wish that this show was so abstract that it bends my brain and blinds my eyes. In that case, I would be able to say the art style in this show is a masterpiece. Other than that, the colours and details in this show are beyond satisfying.

The music is amazing, so peaceful, so calming and yet so sad, so deceiving. The opening especially, oh how I love the start of the opening.
But other than that, I can't say it stood out too much. Somewhat dreamy but also generically forgettable. It's good don't get me wrong, It was captivating while I watched this show, but once it's heard, it's forgotten.

I mean the characters are diverse. We have a tsundere, a girl trying to understand her, a girl with daddy issues and runs from her problems, and most importantly a cute as fucking girl with some nice thighs. Let's not forget all the other girls, who were there to support and develop the main girls. These characters have so much depth to them, each with similar reasons to have their lives ended and yet be so different.
I say that like the characters are developed. Not in the slightest. They didn't even start development until, basically, the end. They are more interested in girls trying to find their taste and preferences than to connect the characters together in a meaningful way. You would think that all the important characters would have been at least introduced by the 5th episode, they added the most vital character for a plot twist. Half the characters are unfinished, and all the minor characters are well dead.

This is the downfall of this show. Imagine your at a restaurant, eating the most exquisite, the most beautiful filet mignon. Then halfway through the waiter takes the plate away. Everything in this show is basically perfect in every way until you add the story. It was such a ride, everything should have been set up so perfectly, until the end. By the time I was up to the final episode, I thought to myself, there are two ways they could end this.
1. They set up for a second season at the end of an arc
OR
2. They will rush the ending.
Clearly, 1 is the most obvious choice, we get an ending on a satisfying point of a cliffhanger or they set up a new arc. But instead, it was neither of the two options. Sure, it was a cliffhanger, but it wasn't a satisfying cliffhanger. They say there will be an OVA that comes out in June, but I really doubt that it would answer half the questions we have about the show. I refuse to call it the end of a season when they just started adding the main antagonist of the show.
It's like I just took my first bite into a juicy, thick steak, and someone takes it away without warning. I would have much rather prefer a worse, inexpensive steak that can fulfil my hunger or not even eat than to be left hungry for another perfect bite.
Wonder Egg Priority is a good concept, but the execution was horrendous. This show has small aspects that I like in most shows, but they just fail to implement them well until the end.

Overall - 7

This show is good, but that's all it is, it hides the fact that the story is barely developing by covering itself with the irresistible art style and sound. I went in mesmerised and captivated, and came out disappointed and unsatisfied. There is so much more this show has to add, let hope that they will give us a more developed and satisfying season two so I can give this show a rating I believe it deserves.
