Ping Pong the Animation is just more than a sports anime, it’s an anime about teenagers trying to find themselves through the game of ping pong. Each character is well fleshed out and serves a purpose. Even an easily forgettable character traveled all over the world to find himself. The story isn’t limited to our main characters only, we see glimpses of others and their struggles. The animation might look bland at a first glance but the more you see the more it makes sense. After all, it was directed by none other than my man Masaaki Yuasa. He has a distinct way of telling a story and his art style is true to his feelings. The animation is very fluid and everything is held together by the alluring soundtracks. It has a nice after-taste. The more you think about it the better it gets.
