Preliminary (16/19 chp)
DISCLAIMER: There's only 16/19 chapters of this manga translated atm, but I'll update this review once those last 3 are translated.

The revenge story is something found quite often in fiction. Slayer Volte certainly doesn't do anything new, but I will say the mc being a very young, immortal, almost feral girl is a nice change from the usual. it has your usual gore, angst, and edginess you find with the genre, but it's not entirely about revenge. In its short run time it does an alright job at exploring the consequences of war, some ok commentary on redemption, and what it means to be human...or a dog person ig. There's also a decent look at the concept of magic vs science.

--STORY 7/10--

Slayer Volte's story follows a young girl named Coa Volte, who is determined to get revenge on her previous commanding officer, who using magic to control mutated, immortal animal creatures called "Quids" to do an impressively horrific war crime. Her entire people, the enemy forces, and even some of the forces she was fighting along with get wiped out, and its only thanks to this other magic girl that she's revived with the immortal power of the Quids. From there she slaughters many just to get close to taking her revenge, and is don the name "The Slayer".

In such a short amount of chapters, the story actually does a decently good job of worldbuilding, and building up the character's motivations. It's pretty simple stuff, but it gets the job done. It's not super compelling and again it does ok commentary on the previously mentioned topics, but it makes for an enjoyable enough read. Now admittedly the ending isn't translated yet, so I can't say how that'll be until it is.

--Characters 7/10--

Like said in the previous paragraph, the manga manages to do a fairly good job of giving some basic, but good enough executed characterization to most of its cast more or less. There are some characters that are just there mostly for the plot, and aren't anything special. There's actually some good concepts there, but alas the execution is meh.

--ART 6/10--

Art is fairly simple for the most part, but it gets the job done in the action scenes. Backgrounds are mostly meh, characters have fairly simple designs but are well drawn 90% of the time. The art is above average for the most part, but there's some good panels sometimes.

--OVERALL ENJOYMENT 8/10--

Now I'm very much biased towards the type of tropes this story has, but I can't rec it to everyone. At worst though, I'd say it's a harmless edgy manga that's a quick read. I'd rec it only if you like:

- a warrior female mc
- child protags
- revenge stories
- tragedy (tho that's only if you can really get invested into these characters)
- typical war stuff
