Mixed Feelings
Look how they massacred my boy, (this also covers legend 2 and 3 since this also applies to them)

The original Initial D was iconic with its terrible Cgi but amazing soundtrack. The legend films on the other hand are the exact opposite of it.

Story- 6

It follows the original Initial D plot but changes have been made, Takumi's character has been changed a bit, the race with Shingo (The Red Eg6) has been changed, there are some battles left out like the rx7 vs r32. Overall the story was crammed into 3 movies thus lots of good races were cut out and personalities had to be changed.

As someone who loves Initial D this kinda ruined it for me

Art- 8

If the original had terrible Cgi, this one doesn't. The art is great and well detailed, heck even the aircon panels look great. There's really nothing much to say here

Sound- 6

There's no eurobeat, granted the rock songs used are still pretty good but removing one of the most iconic parts of the series just kills the movie.

The sfx are also different, the original Initial D utilized actually sfx for the cars, the ae86 actually sounded like the ae86 irl but in the legend movies they sound a bit off, the original one made you feel like you were in the car while the movie felt like you were watching the race.

Character- 7

Again Takumi's character was changed and not for the better at the same time the anime did not hire the original voice actors. Takumi sounds more like a teen which is nice but it's weird hearing the voice of other characters.

Ryosuke went from Dio to Jotaro and others also had different va's if you're a first time watcher then you wouldn't mind it but to long time Initial D fans it feels weird.

Overall I'll give it a 7 - If you want to watch Initial D but don't want the terrible Cgi or you don't have much time then you can give the legend movies a try
