To me, reading Solo Leveling is evolution of isekai powerfantasies. It more or less does everything that your average isekai does, but with great art and good internal consistency. Most things that happen in the world make sense, and there aren't very many asspulls or totally out of character things that happen. That being said, the manhwa itself isn't very deep or ambitious, it's a somewhat standard fare of just saving the world and gaining power, but in some respects, it's also better for that. I would rather read a manhwa or manga that succeeds at what it's aiming for rather than one that shoots too far and misses.
