Perhaps this is how Toei animation atoned for their sins in Digimon Adventure Tri. Yes, that's simply how I feel after watching this. The true final of Digimon Adventure. An adventure will have to come to an end. This film has made their last adventure and last evolution to be much more proper. While I still don't consider this the most honorable or glorious way to end Digimon Adventure, it is still quite proper and acceptable.

Let's spin a bit about the story here. This film takes a couple of years after the disappointing tragedy of Digimon Adventure Tri. The chosen children have grown up quite a bit. And it does seem that people doesn't consider Digimon to be something unusual here. Well... they have seen multiple Digimon appearance in multiple years since the first Digimon Adventure after all. Aside from how the people, the characters in focus in this film are Taichi and Yamato. Both of them are about to graduate from University. Their relationship is now restored. The other characters also made their appearance and we got to see the characters from Digimon Adventure Zero Two as well. Not a bad start to build the story. The battle however, especially the final battle is the most violent I have ever seen in any Digimon anime whether it is TV or film.

The animation has improved quite a lot since Tri. Not the best for a 2020 anime film but still acceptable. Another atonement for Toei Animation's horrible animation with Digimon Adventure Tri.

The sound... well... it is okay. Not highly exciting. And for the music, you still get the now old and legendary Butter-Fly performed by Wada Kouji who passed away a couple of years back. Brave Song is still the evolution theme but with new mix. The ending theme is still performed by AiM or Maeda Ai who used to be the seiyuu of young Mimi.

Overall, I think you can enjoy this Digimon Adventure film if you know the story of Digimon Adventure TV series and couple of their early film. Especially the one that told us how Taichi met Agumon when he was still a... toddler? And then one movie how Omegamon made their debut. For people who never watched or know Digimon, there is no need to "waste" your time watching this film. You'll get lost and confused in the story without knowing the background.

In the end, I appreciate how Toei Animation atone their sins in the previous and build a proper end for Digimon Adventure. I believe the others would share the same opinion as me although not all. I know there is a new Digimon Adventure anime with a remake story. But I am not going to watch that one. My time with Digimon is already over. It's time for me to move forward, just like Taichi and Yamato said. Peace!
