Personally, Higurashi is one of the best animes I have ever watched, however I will warn anyone planning to watch it that there is a large amount of violence, blood, and gore in this anime. It is not for the faint of heart, nor for those sensitive to seeing young girls going on murderous rampages.

Higurashi is a classic pyscological anime that makes you wonder what is really going on in the story. While you think you may know exactly what's going on, suddenly, they die. And then, everyone is alive and well again. It's elements like this that make Higurashi such a great anime for those wanting suspense or horror from their anime.

The artwork in Higurashi is well-done, but it isn't the best I've ever seen, to say the least. I feel that some aspects of the characters' physical appearances were somewhat awkward to the eye, but they are not really what makes the anime a masterpiece.

The music used in this anime is very well-chosen, and fitting to the plot. It's creepy, just like the anime itself is.

Most of the characters in Higurashi are the perfect examples of the "yandere" personality. They appear to be loving, harmless, and perhaps even innocent at first glance. However, they eventually turn violent, and pyscotic. These characters will keep you guessing, and make you wonder what is really going on inside their head.

Overall, Higurashi is an amazing anime that I feel should at least be looked into, if only for its amazing and well-developed plotline. If you don't mind the blood, torture scenes, and the infrequent bad language, this is a great anime choice for anyone. (However, I don't suggest anyone under the age of 15-16 to watch it. It's a lot worse than it seems at first glance. It IS rated "M" for a reason.)
