If you could choose to have any wish granted in exchange for your soul, would you take that offer?
That is the main dilemma in Madoka. I don't usually watch magical girl series, because, quite frankly, they seem a bit too young for me. However, this is one that I can honestly say is one of my favorite anime ever, despite how childish it looks at first glance.
Story: 10/10
Madoka does a great job in keeping its viewers guessing, without driving them away by being too confused. It has its flaws, as any does, and some people may not like how it is kind
...
of a mystery until the very end. However, the story itself is brilliant, and truly unique despite its wide genre.
Art: 10/10
Again, Madoka stands out from the crowd when it comes to art. The characters are well designed, and look like the 14-15 year-old girls that they are rather than looking a few years too young or too old like most shows tend to do in today's world. The backgrounds and other art aspects help to bring a more mature factor to Madoka - the witches themselves are truly something straight out of a nightmare.
Sound: 10/10
I really liked the music they used in this show. There wasn't much background music in the episodes themselves, but the soundtracks they did use fit the situation well, and added to the suspense or emotion of the episode(s).
Character: 10/10
In terms of character development, Madoka's character crew could be easily compared to the cast of Higurashi. The characters are not cookie-cutter adolescent girls, though they seem to be at first glance. They don't just walk around, waving their wands and fight evil without ever thinking twice. Each of them actually has a unique personality, and even flaws that cause them to fall deeper into despair. It is refreshing to see characters that can actually be related to, especially in a magical girl genre, as well as those very same characters being able to show emotion and shed tears without making them seem too weak to stand alone as a main character.
Enjoyment: 10/10
To be honest, I wasn't sure how I felt about the show at first. I was kind of thinking to myself, "Oh, great. Another Sailor Moon-esque show that I'm not going to want to ever watch again.."
But I was totally, and completely wrong.
Unlike Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew and other shows like it, Madoka wastes no time in irrelevant transformation cut scenes. In fact, in all 12 episodes, I believe there was perhaps a max of 5 throughout the series.
The time they didn't use on useless cut scenes like that was used in a great way to develop the plot and characters. By the end of the series, I was in tears. This anime is beautiful, and deeply moving. There is a lot of symbolism within it that you may not catch until later in series or even until a second watch through it, but it is worth your time to watch.
Overall: 10/10

Bleach is, and always has been/will be, one of my favorite anime. However, it isn't without its flaws.
Story 8/10: The main plotline of Bleach revolves around Ichigo Kurosaki, a 15 year-old boy that is able to see ghosts. Then, he gains power to protect his family/friends/etc. Kind of cliche, right? In the first season or two, yes, the story is a bit cliche. However, the rest of the show (Aside from the horrible, horrible filler arcs), is fairly original.
Art 8/10: Also in the beginning seasons of Bleach, the art wasn't what we might expect from a modern-day anime.
...
Slowly, though, it seemed to improve, especially (in my opinion) regarding Rukia's appearance.
Sound 10/10: Even though you can expect the opening and ending themes to change every now and then, I believe the animators do a great job in picking out these for the show. The background music, as well, helps to add to the mood of the action, drama, romance, etc. scenes throughout the series.
Character 9/10: Some characters in Bleach, mainly in the filler arcs, are not in the manga, and thus can be considered irrelevant, and are usually only used for comic relief. Casting these characters aside, the main protagonists (Rukia & Ichigo) are well-developed. The rest of the character cast seems to be what almost everyone has in their group of friends: A ditzy blonde, the desperate guy, the player, the rebel.. You get the idea.
Enjoyment 8/10: As I've mentioned, the fillers in Bleach are 99% of the time are absolutely HORRID. They, I believe, are the worst part of the series as a whole. Once the regular plotlines begin after a long, dreadful line of filler episodes, though, I find this series to be very enjoyable, however I would personally recommend the manga over the anime.
Overall, I give Bleach an 8/10. It has its flaws, but it is still a good anime, all things considered.

After watching both seasons of Higurashi, I personally liked the first season better than this, because I felt Kai was almost too.. fluffy and emotional. However, both seasons of this anime were great. I will warn anyone wishing to watch this, however I'm sure if you watch Kai you have seen the first one, that there is a fair amount of gore, blood, and violence in this anime. Don't watch it if you're sensitive to those things.
Looking back at the first season, nothing seemed to make sense. However, in Kai, the events that happen in Hinamizawa slowly start to come together
...
and make sense, a little at a time. And once the puzzle is complete and all answers have been given, I can promise you will not be disappointed.
As in the first season, the artwork is not the most amazing I've seen. However, it is fairly well-done.
The music and other sounds in this season of Higurashi are like the first seasons; same voice actors, same background music, etc. The only things to have changed are the opening and ending themes, which don't add as much to the creepiness as the first season's themes did, but they help to shed light on one of the main protagonists (Rika) after analyzing it.
Higurashi is an anime that I feel was meant to be analyzed. It may not have a lot of obvious symbolism within it, but it definitely shows what can happen to people when belief turns into obsession, which turns into fear. Fear can drive people to do crazy things, as Higurashi makes painfully obvious. Kai, however, is a bit lighter on the violence, as it mainly only answers the first season brought to light.
Also in this season, Rika's personality seems to be a bit more serious, distant, and matured. Hanyuu, a new supporting/main character, is also introduced, and helps to solve the mystery of Hinamizawa.
Alone, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni KAI is not as amazing as its predecessor. Together, they make a great series for people, of a mature audience, mind you, to enjoy and rewatch again to analyze the symbolism and other things present in Higurashi.

Personally, Higurashi is one of the best animes I have ever watched, however I will warn anyone planning to watch it that there is a large amount of violence, blood, and gore in this anime. It is not for the faint of heart, nor for those sensitive to seeing young girls going on murderous rampages.
Higurashi is a classic pyscological anime that makes you wonder what is really going on in the story. While you think you may know exactly what's going on, suddenly, they die. And then, everyone is alive and well again. It's elements like this that make Higurashi such
...
a great anime for those wanting suspense or horror from their anime.
The artwork in Higurashi is well-done, but it isn't the best I've ever seen, to say the least. I feel that some aspects of the characters' physical appearances were somewhat awkward to the eye, but they are not really what makes the anime a masterpiece.
The music used in this anime is very well-chosen, and fitting to the plot. It's creepy, just like the anime itself is.
Most of the characters in Higurashi are the perfect examples of the "yandere" personality. They appear to be loving, harmless, and perhaps even innocent at first glance. However, they eventually turn violent, and pyscotic. These characters will keep you guessing, and make you wonder what is really going on inside their head.
Overall, Higurashi is an amazing anime that I feel should at least be looked into, if only for its amazing and well-developed plotline. If you don't mind the blood, torture scenes, and the infrequent bad language, this is a great anime choice for anyone. (However, I don't suggest anyone under the age of 15-16 to watch it. It's a lot worse than it seems at first glance. It IS rated "M" for a reason.)
