The general consensus is that it is a great anime for our 2011 lineup .
i believe that the release of this title at this current time is not aimed at us the anime viewers but aimed at the Japanese TV audience. with a subtle and obvious message.
now. the anime brings up a very good and important question.

Once he was an energetic and charismatic leader of the group. Now a hikkimorri spending most of his time at home playing games. as he tries to cope with the reality that is the real world he ties to view everyone beneath him he believes at the start that he might be losing it .if you have seen the first episode then you will know why he shows at sometime his old child self when protecting his friends
Honma, Meiko
an energetic girl who has seemingly lost or forgot what her wish was. Throughout the anime she is the only character that has not changed and the only character to cheer you up while watching this anime
each and every character in this anime show unique and realistic ways of how we as human beings grieve and cope with the lost one.
The art and voice acting in this show are superb with memorable intro song/ending song
