This isn’t the type of series I usually like, and this one was no exception. Even though it’s set in a different world and all, it’s still a slice of life to its core. So when they have as their goal to defeat the demon lord, it's only because it will lead to some “funny” situations. And the humor in this show is really repetitive.
The only kinda funny person is Kazuma, although most of his jokes boil down to him being horny. The other characters are the stupid Aqua, the masochist Darkness and the chuunibyou Megumin. And basically all of their jokes are of their respective type, especially Darkness, which gets old really quickly.
Every situation they find themselves in is supposed to be funny. And everything they do doesn’t matter. They are really overpowered, for no reason. They simply get resurrected when they die. I can’t find myself getting attached to this world and characters when everything is a joke. Most humor series suffer from this exact same problem, in my opinion.
The character designs are pretty cool and the animation when Megumin charges her attack looks great. But I can’t help but feel that this show is better suited as a compilation of the best moments, which there are some, instead of wrapping them up in a big dumb show.
