Um ok... where do i start? The anime is about a group of highschool students a school nurse and a seven year old girl who try to survive an outbreak of a deadly disease reffered to throughout the series as the "Killer Disease", which causes those infected to become "Them" (a.k.a. zombies).
Takashi; the male protagonist and leader. Is a somewhat indecisive yet courageous highschooler and the leader of the group. Takashi is the first to notice the outbreak and is able to react accordingly, further showing his capabilities as a leader. Takashi's childhood friend, Rei, is his child hood friend as well as his ex-girlfreind and "love interest". In the first episode, Takashi is forced to kill Rei's boyfriend and his childhood freind, Hisashi. This further widens the gap between him and Rei but that gap is closed after Takashi threatens to go and fight more of "Them", so Rei apologizes and takes back everything she said. Rei; the female protagonist. Is Takashi's childhood friend as well as his ex-girlfreind. Rei may seem a bit incapable at times but makes up for it with her excellent combat skills, she also still has feelings for Takashi and worries about his well being. She also has a mean jeolous streak and shows it through her feirce flirting.
Takagi; the stratigist of the group. Is Takashi's childhood freind and classmate. She sees herself as a genius and has the tendency to be a narssasist. She is a capable person and keeps a relatively cool head in dire situations, although she has little to no combat skills and relies on Hirano for protection. Takagi acts as a mother-figure for Alice, the child of the group, and tries to protect her innocence and well being. Takagi has feelings for Takashi but doesn't show it even though she gets jeolous when he is alone with Seako. She also seems to have feelings for Hirano as well.
Hirano; marksman. Is the groups long range combat expert. Hirano is a gun ottaku and a military officianado. Because of his obsession with guns, Hirano seems to be mentally unstable and actually attempts to get himself killed after he is forced to kill Asami ( A policewomen who falls in love with him and him her) but is calmed down by Miss Mirikazawa. His unreliable skills in long range combat makes up for his lack of close combat skills. He has feelings for Takagi and repeatedly tries to make passes at her but is shutdown before he can even get close. Hirano acts as a father-figure for Alice and also tries to protect her innocence and well being.
Saeko; swordswomen and second in command. Saeko is the groups second in command and provides the group with support when they can't use they're guns. Saeko is mentally unstable and easilly get's carried away with her killing. She explains her condition to Takashi who then excepts her for who she is and takes responsibility for her actions.Saeko has feelings for Takashi and is willing to do anything on his behalf.
Ms. Mirikazawa; Medic and chaperoen of the group. Mirikazawa is a knowledgable nurse and doctor but she can be a bit of a dits. Mirikazawa has no combat experience and is used as a comic relief character. Her large breast size is an example because it is used repeatedly as a form of comedy in the series.
Alice; Child of the group and symbol of innocence. Alice is saved by Takashi and the others after her father is killed. Alice acts as a symbol of innocence in a world full of destruction and keeps the group ,as a whole, mentally stable. Alice is bilingual and is hinted to be multiracial. Alice also has a canine companian, Zeke.
Zeke; The zombie alarm. Zeke is an intelligent dog who warns the team when "Them" are near.
The anime's plot is very strong but the show itself had its flaws. The first episode focused solely on the plot and was very suspenseful and thrilling, although the episodes that followed were not as strong. For example, the anime seemed to focus alot on ecchi and oppai instead of the situation at hand. It's because of this that a lot of people saw the show as perverted and dumb when it was actually really good. The anime follows this group people as they try to survive not only the outbreak but to cope with the crumbling society and the breakdown of there own morality. The constant use of ecchi tends to keep people from seeing that. On the all-and-all I would give this anime a 9 out of 10 because it has a good plot, a strong first episode, and amazing artwork. Plus the ecchi kinda adds a sort of comic relief to the horror that's in the show, and it relieves some tension during those serious moments.
