Truly a stellar film from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. The animation and art style are absolutely gorgeous, so much so that a part of me wishes real life looked like what I saw on screen. And as far as Miyazaki films go, I'd even say the art is only second to Spirited Away.
True to Miyazaki's style, the characters feel like real people, living real lives. From the main characters to those we only see for a single scene, everyone seems to be good-hearted and loving. Miyazaki really knows how to depict the innocence and joy of being a child, in a way that I don't think many do.
The soundtrack of Ponyo complements the story perfectly, and really adds to the overall sweet, lovely "vibe" of the film. Everything about the film is wholesome, and it just makes you feel good. For anyone wanting to smile, you should give Ponyo watch.
