Ok real shit? You should watch up to episode 18, then read the manga from chapter 40 onwards. This anime changed the ending MASSIVELY. The manga is complete and its goddamn beautiful.
Everything is wrapped up nicely & a lot of characters who die in the anime don't die in the manga. Really wish more people knew about it.
If it would have followed the manga I would have given this a 9/10 btw.
As for the anime:
Story: 7/10 It's good, it leaves you interested, and its not too predictable. Not anything that's going to blow your mind but it gets the job done. The dark moments hit very well. The tone of the story and suspense is what keeps you coming back to figure out "what happens next?"
Art: 8/10 Great art style, I enjoyed it :) The animation is smooth too.
Sound: 8/10 One of the parts of this anime that stood out the most. Really helps to set the mood of the show and the soundtrack is amazing at getting across intense moments in the story.
Characters: 9/10 Really, you are watching this show for the characters. Maybe you have a fave you don't want to die, or some kind of relationship you want to see... There is something for everyone here and they are all unique.
Also, the main protag is pretty likeable. Which is great to see in such a dark show. He doesn't get overly angsty or unrealistically hardened to the line of work he finds himself in. Instead he keeps his personality but matures over time and you can really see him learn lessons along the way. Most characters in this anime aren't the most developed in history however 9/10 for Tatsumi. Seriously, kudos, because that's how you write a protag.
Enjoyment 9/10. Whether you just have it in the background or get super invested, this anime will get you hooked.
Overall 7/10. I knocked down a point because of the anime-only ending. Seriously, the manga fixes so much. Anyway, should you watch it? Yeah! Just as long as you're fine with blood and gore :) and major character death :')
