W'z (Anime) add (All reviews)

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (3/13 eps)
I'd rather watch the entire season of Hand Shakers all over again than continue with this season (with all due respect).

One of the main reasons I was interested in Hand Shakers in the first place was because of it's unique art style, fluid animation, and epic fight scenes.

When watching the first few episodes of W'z, I was a bit disappointed when I noticed that character outlines were all in black lines, instead of silver, or white, or some other interesting color. The animation for Hand Shakers clearly mixed 2D and 3D techniques to deliver a beautiful production, despite the sometimes confusing plot points throughout.

I'm not sure whether W'z lacked funding, or if they just lowered their budget, but for whatever reason, the entire series appeared to have been mostly 2D animated, with animations lacking in fluidity. For what it's worth, I was able to keep track of different characters and their movements during fight scenes in Hand Shakers much better than in W'z.

To summarize, the differences between Hand Shakers and W'z were just too great for me to enjoy the second season. Plus, the soundtrack in Hand Shakers sounded much nicer than the one in W'z. When delivering a second season, it should at least have better animation than the first, not the other way around.

P.S. the first episode started off a bit cheesy, and it made me feel uncomfortable. SOREDAKE!
