Anime like Samurai Champloo and Afro Samurai did a great job in boisterously entertaining it's fans with timeless action sequences that resonated with fans for years.. Highschool of the Dead should be included on this list as well, since it does a great job at making things more entertaining and livelier with spectacular animation and absurdly fun characters. Although it has been criticized for it's erotic sleaze, I felt this was actually quite effective for the overall tone of the series.

Their have been plenty of zombie ripoffs but HOTD surprisingly packs an entertainingly enthusiastic punch in each episode that separates itself from past movies and tv shows in the genre. In addition, it is animated which, is working quite nicely to separate itself from all the live-action George A. Romero rehashes.

This show is on my list for anime of the year in 2010 right behind "Tatami Galaxy". Even though the fan service can get a little over the top at times, I think it mostly works for what the show is trying to do in simply being an entertaining action series with great animation.
