Another great job by Makoto Shinkai. I waited so long for this movie to be available on Streaming Platform (as I missed the theatrical release due to my exams). Earlier I wanted to go for dubbed version as I usually prefer but I was getting impatient day by day. I watched the subbed version. Apart from a few instances, I was thoroughly engaged in the movie. (Those instances were due to some long subtitles).
Well the art work is mindblowing (no wonder here). Sound was also great. Even one of the favourite sound tracks. I loved the music so much that I have been listening to those since album release but didn't get bored yet. Apart from music effects, general sound effects were on point and great. There were no instances that any sound effect that could have been there were missing.
Story was also great. It has fantasy element like Your Name but also retained the deep emotion of love like other Shinkai works. The direction was great, though different from what was seen in Your Name. Here story flows more in a straight-line was not complex.
The character development was great and on par with other Shinkai works.
All in all, I just loved this movie.
Note: This is not Your Name 2, so don't judge this movie based on the elements of Your Name. This is a separate work of art, so judge it as it is meant to be. I know the MC of Your Name have cameo here but think of them just as easter eggs😉
