If you are looking for a good sports anime to start off with or in general then I can assure you that Haikyuu is one of the best ones to watch. The story is well rounded and has steady pacing. And while it does focus on a volleyball team there are some underlying problems and factors that are discussed in this story.
The Sound and art are amazing, and most of that is because the music perfectly matches the mood of the story and helps you feel the emotion that the character's feel. Overall the story produces a can do attitude to those who watch it and through out the show, prove that nothing is impossible as long as you work for it.
All in all this is one of the best sports anime if not the best sport anime you will find out there.
