What makes this manga work is it is also a baseball manga but it hides this under the slice of life disguise. This helps to flesh out characters more because it gives them a reason to overcome hardship. But being a slice of life manga it never shifts the focus away from the characters and strikes a nice balance between the two.
It is a very enjoyable story and very laid back. It is also finished publishing so you can start reading without fearing any hiatus whatsoever.
