Promare (Anime) add (All reviews)

What to say about Promare…? First of I want to say that the story was solid, even if there were a few predictable parts in it, the ethos of the whole thing more than made up for it. I never knew it was possible to hate someone after their first appearance on screen. The Freeze (Freezing?) Force guys we’re all complete assholes, but Burning Rescue provided enough of a foil for that. The art was alright, but sometimes the change in art style within a scene didn’t jive with me. I am not a fan of most of Studio Trigger’s work so take that with a grain of salt. The colours, especially the blacks, blues, and purples, in the fight scenes really made everything pop and were a good use of artistic direction. Now we get to my favourite part: the sound. The soundtrack to this film is absolutely perfect, and how they worked it in and balanced it are excellent too. When they brought in both versions of “Ashes” the vocals were subdued and the music itself was still prominent which gave it a perfect atmosphere for those scenes. And the epicness when Gallant Ones came on in the end was jaw dropping. If this film didn’t have the soundtrack it does, the film would not be as popular and as great as it is. Whatever they paid the artistic and sound directors for this film is nowhere near enough.
