The story begins in a rather cutesy sort of manner, a typical boy loves girl, girl barely notices boy sort of thing. It's easy to enjoy the simplicity of the anime at the beginning because you're consumed in wondering if Daisuke (the main character) will end up with Risa (his love interest).
However, as the story progresses, it becomes even more enjoyable as you learn more of all the characters' pasts and a twist that could have never been expected happens. At this point you become interested in the anime for more than just the reason of Daisuke's love life.
