I was drawned to Cowboy Bebop by a Firefly podcast. There is something about space cowboys that I love. Bebop doesn't have a linear storyline it's more about the misadventures of a rag tag crew that is drawn together by there love of money and adventure. There were no villains per say just "bounties" they tried to capture each episode. One of the things I loved about this series were the characters. They were each unique and very flawed but seemed to care about each other though they would never admit it. Each had a background, that we got to see. Ed the non sequitur, androgynous, young member of the crew was much like River from Firefly. Spike the anti hero is too cool for school. Faye the femme fatale brought sexy to the series and a little girl power. Jet the gruff old goat would bring his sage advice to the crew, even though they never wanted it. Ein the "smart dog" rounded out the crew. The action was good and there was plenty of gun slinging like in old westerns. There were even a couple of duels at dust. What stood out to me was the soundtrack. It was a great jazzy mix. The downside to this series was that there wasn't really an ending no one road out in the sunset. Cowboy Bebop was my first anime and I really enjoyed it.
