Hi score girl is definitely for a bit more matured audience, I highly doubt someone who 16 or 14 would like something like this. I think it had to do with the more older generation who has a more nostalgia felling towards game in arcades in 90s.

I can also say that the romance is a bit different to how the "usual" shoujo's are made recently, its a very slow-paced but heart warming love that develops over time. Which is one of the aspects I enjoy most about, It's not rushed it's built over time. As well as it's not just about the love between the two characters but it shows the love of what they both enjoy doing between them.

Honestly speaking this anime is most probably not for everyone, if you didn't like it most likely, you don't understand the nostalgia most people felt watching this or the fact that the characters took "too long" to realize their feelings (well mostly the main character) but if you enjoy a slow easy going romantic anime that will remind of the games you played in the arcade, this is definitely for you, Like I said it's not for everyone, even for me i thought at time why does this feel so slow, but it wasn't done on purpose, it wasn't "dragged" for nothing, they were reasons for that and I quite in fact enjoyed it over time.

It was also very different to the usual quick paced shoujo's I tend to indulge myself in, so if you're like me who is looking for something a bit different and little more easy-going but still heart warming, I would totally recommend hi score girl to you :)
