Plunderer for me became a very confusing show at first (well I mean I still at this point find it mostly confusing and bit of a miss and run kind of show).
Honestly I think Plunderer had great potential to become an anime that was in between mainstream and underground, the kind of anime that you would hear people whisper about here and there but also not so much because they wanted to keep this anime underground because it was such a great anime that they didn't want to get ruined by the "mainstream vibe".
It was just such a disappointment to see it not become what
...
it could have been.
Let's start with the story line first, which I think was one of the stronger aspect, I mean having numbers to define your life span whether it's walking distance, how many criminals you've arrested, or how many people you've helped is such a unique concept, with the fact that if you reach 0 you'll be sent into the abyss. For me the story was a solid 9/10, but the only thing that bothered me - which will most likely tie in with the characters- was how the story was told.
The creator (author of the manga) rushed way to quickly into the story and even disregarded a few character development, like i said before because the story concept is so great I feel that the creator could have left some blank spaces to create some massive and amazing character arcs.
Yes there are some fast paced anime out there, but for this kind of story I feel that Plunderer needed that type of story telling that needed to be dragged out or prolonged a bit to create meaningful character progress and build close relationships. The characters in this story seem hollow and to easy to understand and some are are just too generic, they needed to be an underline so they had more room for emotion and pain.
The execution in my opinion was done completely wrong. I also did the mistake of reading the manga thinking it was going to be better and i thought maybe it's just the anime that was bad, but it seems the manga is even worse, because I noticed the subtle changes the anime did to the manga, like how the two characters meet or adding in a few scenes to make it last longer, which I can say did a good job on, and maybe that's why I realized after having watching the anime and reading the manga that I though maybe the anime could have made the manga better but no they just cancel each other out.
I can make so many other points on how bad this anime is it's still going to be my "trash" show unfortunately, which is the really sad part because even though it's crap I'm most likely going to finish the anime and come back with even more criticism lol.
Overall score: 4.7/10

This is has been the first time a manga has ever given me the most feels in my entire life, and I'm not joking when I'm saying this (although it might sound like the most cliche thing ever), it felt like I was on a roller coaster.
Sometimes I would feel anger and pain towards the characters, and then joy and happiness but there was a feeling of sympathy and bitter sweetness there too. Other days it would plain pleasurable and then anguish, but let me tell you I've never fell more in love with characters ever in my life than have with these two (and
...
this is including all manga I've read, whether its shoujo, horror psychological or even shounen manga).
Maya and Nemugasa have completely grown on me and taken a hold of me, I love them with everything I have. And I can't even tell you how many times I've re-read this manga, whether I started it all from the beginning or read from a certain chapter of the manga, it never failed to make me feel how felt, when I read it for the first time.
I also applaud Yonezou Nekota for creating such an amazing story, it pleases me greatly how effective the author can make it. There are times when you feel like you want punch Maya and just hug Nemugasa but there are time you empathize with Maya and understand why his like that or even feel for him because he realizes his mistakes or what he has done, the author clearly shows how he reflects these emotions strongly through his facial expression. Which lead to way Nekota draws the characters, s/he has such an effect on me I cannot even explain, as well as feeling the love and lust of Nemugasa's face when Maya is with him, just warms my heart.
I'm telling you this manga will be roller coaster but you won't regret, it's filled with passion, humor, lust, romance, heart broken and many many more, just read it please. There's so much more to this than the sex. Yes, sex is want in this but the ups and down of Maya and Nemugasa's relationship journey is what makes you stay.
[sorry for any spelling errors or grammars, seems I was quite excited whilst typing this out, I guess I really just need more people to read it also so we can all talk about it :) ]

It's really confusing to me how some people actually dislike this anime?? First off Masaaki Yuasa did a fantastic job of creating an anime adaption of devilman which was created in the 1970's to bring into the modern times of the 21st century. His use of narrative starting the series with much action and gaggy humor only to turn it into something completely dramatic serves the title well.
The music works perfectly well, everything from the demonic chanting blending with the EDM influenced music to the rap/beatboxing segments - which mind you if you actually pay attention brings in a lot of symbolism about the story
...
but also the philosophy about it, e.g when they rap about the how the demons are roaming the earth and taking everything, which can be very frightening but also saying how are humans any different to demons because were basically the same. I MEAN COME ONE IF THATS NOT SYMBOLISM RIGHT THERE???
The anime bombards viewers with images of neon, jiggling, distored women and sliced up, bleeding men. The action is uncomfortable to watch, but eventually you find yourself becoming numb to it, as you'll realize it's not there for entertainment it's been shown like this because as viewers we need to visualize what it would be like in that situation how things would have looked like and I think Masaaki Yuasa again does a gorgeous job by portraying these images of distressing humans and demons.
The use of editing by Akari Saito, also serves the aesthetics and context of the series quite good (e.g when Miki wrote an article about Akira saying how she doesn't think his a bad person whilst those scenes of hate comments raided the screen she still continued to type, which i thought was great as it shows that this is what reality is and people no matter what you say, people will continue to hate on what you have to say), with the same applying to the drawing and the rather intense animation.
Another thing that stood out was the ending, most people seemed to also dislike the ending and maybe that's why they dislike the anime, but if you dint know that manga in the 70's ended like that as well, and the fact that Masaaki Yuasa didn't do a whole 360 turn where it's been changed and just stuck the original ending made me quite happy. As much as I love a happy ending as the next person you could say I've been selfishly waiting along time for tragedy ending and devilman crybaby has satisfied my needs. It might have left a bitter sweetness in heart but to me that was the goal, although how much I and many people didn't come to like Ryo towards the end Masaaki Yuasa created such a great ending that made most people sympathize with him even though we didn't want to.
I believe the fact that most people didn't find this appealing was because (and i hate using this word) was for a more "mature" audience, and I'm just taking about age in general, I'm talking about emotionally and psychologically. There's a lot of heavy and intense subject matter this series encounters, and not many people will be able to handle or understand for that matter. personally I think devilmen crybaby was a straight 10/10. I haven't seen in a long time where there has been such a show that tackles many harsh topics that can relate to reality in many ways but still manages to create such a fine animation specimen out of it . Well done to Masaaki Yuasa.
Will I recommend it?
Yes, but remember it's not for faint hearted.

Hi score girl is definitely for a bit more matured audience, I highly doubt someone who 16 or 14 would like something like this. I think it had to do with the more older generation who has a more nostalgia felling towards game in arcades in 90s.
I can also say that the romance is a bit different to how the "usual" shoujo's are made recently, its a very slow-paced but heart warming love that develops over time. Which is one of the aspects I enjoy most about, It's not rushed it's built over time. As well as it's not just about the love between the
...
two characters but it shows the love of what they both enjoy doing between them.
Honestly speaking this anime is most probably not for everyone, if you didn't like it most likely, you don't understand the nostalgia most people felt watching this or the fact that the characters took "too long" to realize their feelings (well mostly the main character) but if you enjoy a slow easy going romantic anime that will remind of the games you played in the arcade, this is definitely for you, Like I said it's not for everyone, even for me i thought at time why does this feel so slow, but it wasn't done on purpose, it wasn't "dragged" for nothing, they were reasons for that and I quite in fact enjoyed it over time.
It was also very different to the usual quick paced shoujo's I tend to indulge myself in, so if you're like me who is looking for something a bit different and little more easy-going but still heart warming, I would totally recommend hi score girl to you :)

I quite enjoyed this anime, since I don't actually watch a lot of hentai or ecchi for that matter. This was honestly such a good one for me to get started, but I didn't like that it was so short. Like if it was at least 8-10 minutes long that would have been great because then we could have gotten more story out of it.
Even though I did rate the story 6/10, I do think in the short amount of time they had, they managed to put into such a good story in such a short time, so props to that!
Otherwise I enjoyed it, quite
...
sweet but also steamy at the same time, should definitely give it a try :)
