How pathetic. Devilman Crybaby is a trash excuse for a show. Listen, im no man of fine taste. I like shonun, comedies, dark fantasies, what have you, but what I noticed is that this show has NO genre. Its raw symbolism and abstract art. The vague outline of a story enticed me, along with so many people singing its praise, but there is not a single thing about this show that i liked. The OP is trash. Its a bob the first time, but that's it. The art is experimental, but seems just lazy after some time. It doesn't lead anywhere new, its just meh.
The BIGGEST issue is the lack of ANY substance. There is no actual plot. No actual character. The creators seem to be obsessed with messing around in this world they had no plans for, and just toss it away. I'm a fan of symbolism and meaning myself, but when there's no STORY to go along with it, you can count me out. There is no character to ANYone. The character arcs are pathetic, and can barely even be called that. The Plot threads are waved together out of nowhere and have no substance to them. Stuff that I couldn't care less about, and forgot because it has no foreshadowing or plot relevance was meant to be one of the BIGGEST character moments for the main characters. That pisses me off. This show is literal trash. I cant find a good thing to say about it. Right from the start I thought it was weak, but as the hours moved forward, I just saw it get weaker and weaker.
