JoJo Part 4 is where I can say with confidence is amazing from beginning to end. Now that we are past the tedious DIO threat and Araki has finally decided how Stands work, JoJo has finally become a solid anime and was one of, if not the best anime in 2016. What is perhaps the biggest change in comparison to the previous 3 parts is its tone. It's no longer an action packed adventure thriller, but a slice of life anime centered around high school students, who are drawn into a mystery involving a serial killer with a hand fetish. The very idea is ludicrous, and yet, it works.

The story is considerably better than the previous three parts. Where before the story was generic, tedious, and sometimes even downright boring, Diamond is Unbreakable manages to give off a constant aura of tension and mystery, and I was hooked the entire season. The characters are the best they've ever been. Jotaro returns, and he's matured quite a bit, no longer hotheaded but still managing to be a badass. Josuke and Okuyasu have great chemistry, and their friendship is entertaining to watch. The best character however, is Koichi. He gets some of the best character development in the entire series, going from a meek and timid schoolboy to a confident and strong Stand user. The villain however, is where Part 4 truly shines. He is considered, near unanimously, to be the best JoJo villain in the entire series, and it's not hard to see why. He's interesting, his character design is great, his Stand power is freaking epic, and above all, he's realistic. It's not hard to imagine someone like him existing in real life, and that's what's truly frightening about him.

The sound design is fantastic as always, for all the flaws JoJo might have, sound will never be one of them. While the OP and EDs aren't as stellar as the previous ones, I still enjoy it quite a bit. The soundtrack is fitting and very catchy. The one critique I have for this part is the art. It ranges from 'fair' to 'jesus christ what were they thinking' in some scenes. True, the Stand rushes look the absolute best in Part 4, but everything else isn't as good. Out of all the TV and Blu-Ray comparisons, this part is by far the most noticeable. If the art was as good as Part 3's, I might've given this a 10.

Diamond is Unbreakable is basically a slice of life mystery drama anime that succeeds in almost every way except for its mediocre art. 9/10.
