Don't misread the score. It's a 6, which means it's slightly above average. I don't hate Black Clover, in fact, I enjoy it a lot. But there are some glaring issues that really need to be addressed with the show.
The once-a-week schedule cripples the show in terms of content. If we're counting overused flashbacks, the 3-minute intro and 3-minute outro, and sometimes recaps, we miss around 6-8 minutes of runtime every episode. The showrunners know they're missing content for a standard 23 minute episode, so they stretch out fights and pad everything to the maximum. It sucks.
The overall quality of animation is pretty shit. There are a few episodes where the animation is really well done, but it's not Ufotable good. The CGI isn't great, and a lot of the dialogue is cringy.
However, many of the characters had interesting arcs and backstories. I liked most of the main cast, and they play off each other well. Furthermore, the villains are characterized well, to where they have good reason to attack the kingdom. And when everything lines up and the main characters shonen-style save the day, it's fun.
Asta's screaming still sucks. Avoid Black Clover like the plague if you don't like it.
Black Clover's generic. It kinda sucks. But it delivers on the shonen tropes well, with good characters and sometimes good action. 6/10 not bad
