At first the story appears to be relatively innocent, beginning with a girl having a crush on a boy at school - a typical issue surrounding students at school.
However the story grossly degenerates into an immensely stale medium which appears entirely incapable of bringing itself back up from the hole it dug itself. And on top of all that, it rounds off with a rather stomach churning and sickening ending which pretty much marks the notoriety of this anime. Ultimately the story brings down many other aspects of the anime which spoil the experience.

The art and sound were nothing magnificent, but they weren't entirely bad either. It's as normal as one could expect it to be.

Initial character set up seems relatively normal, but one could be forgiven for thinking that the male protagonist is a despicable and immoral person. The question is whether the development of these characters can be justified by what happened throughout the story. It is indeed difficult to empathise with the male protagonist given his insensitivity but some understanding can be given to the female roles surrounding him, as their actions are motivated by feelings which are easier to empathise with.

If I was to record myself watching this anime, all 12 episodes in a row, my facial expression would slowly turn from innocent to slightly disgusted to downright disgusted. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy thinking about the psychological effects of the turn of events and attempting to justify the actions of all of the characters, which was probably the only enjoyment this anime had for me.

To a normal person this definitely would stay out of my list of general recommendations. However given its notoriety, watching it once just to understand the reputation it has given itself is completely understandable.
