Don't let some of the super harsh reviews turn you away from Arifureta. Nothing aside from the music and soundtrack is extraordinary, but sometimes ordinary things give the most enjoyment. Arifureta is a show with great music, fairly well-written and unique characters, and a fairly decent storyline for an Isekai Harem anime.
Will it win any awards or garner mass critical praise? Most assuredly not.
Is it a serviceable anime that is easy to pick up and a smooth watch all the way through? yes.
Arifureta seemingly banks on the campy 3D modeling used to (personal opinion) perfection in Overlord. The story for the most part stays light and streamlined while addressing several serious issues without getting overly preachy or political, and establishes the antiheroes motives very early overall.
The cast works well together and the dialogue isn't terrible by any stretches. Arifureta is that anime you pick up because you want to watch something that doesn't require half of your brain to compute or half of your heart to become invested. Overall, Arifureta is a solid to maybe slightly above average anime.
