This is a highly subjective review as I will only be submitting my thoughts on the work done with the narrative and characters. I'm slowly becoming more and more annoyed with harems, and especially in recent years it appears as if writers are writhing in panic and defending themselves from something by writing these characters that never feel like anyone. The only defining features are a few of the character designs, I definitely feel like I would recognize the main caracter, Hajime, if his design came up in black and white but... that's it.

Hajime is allowed to run on this rampage where he justifies everything that he does, even when it's shitty, and the show subsequently attempts to convince us that he is doing the right thing. A hero or two fight for what they believe justice is, and while the world definitely can be about killing or being killed, it doesn't have to be. An event that occurred during bizzare and extreme circumstances lay the foundation for a philosophy that affects far more than the original event. I have considered how a character that would be allowed to indulge in a fantasy this much might evolve, and no matter how much the writers may wish it so, there is no way you'd end up helping neither the people around you nor those around the world if you decide that anyone who disagrees with your philosophy needs to die. Even less do I need a show to try and convince me that it's okay to be a douchebag if you get the wanna' be legal loli-waifus of your innermost dreams.

As for the animation, it's... just about okay. Some here are giving it the worst ratings of all time, and the competition is certainly fierce, but I do believe it has some decent character designs. But that's it. The setting of the world doesn't really make these characters come to life either.

The sound is... forgettable. That's all. I can't say I have a single line I remember. Perhaps "Papa" but that's about it. And that was the only warmth I ever found in this show.

A few other reviews point out that we don't get to follow the whole character arcs as opposed to in the manga, and I think that's a real shame. Because even if I disagree with a lot of what the character is doing, and agree with some of it, it's always presented and problemaitzed in the most pathetic of attempts to make something interesting that I just give up. I feel sad having finished watching this show, and not because it wanted me to.
